Cricket ! This game means life to a lot of people and it definitely holds true for the Author. This book is about three friends who love watching, playing and talking cricket so much that they wanted to make their living in this game. The passion with which this book is written is inspiring ! The love and regard for this game is clearly visible in this story.
.
.
.
Starting from how our protagonist (the Author) got introduced to this game as a kid, then grew up loving it more and more. A lot of moments in the book were so adorable and awe-worthy that you’ll feel the love for Cricket. Isn’t it obvious that you’ll give your best to be with the one you love, no matter what the consequence is ? Well, that’s what our dear protagonist did. The game, the friendship between these three youngsters, their life, everything has been beautifully described. Since this is an autobiography, the reference to the real game made it even more realistic to read. I might not be a cricket buff, but reading about someone so enthusiastic about something is really amusing. The Author has done a splendid job with the writing style, narration and pace of the story, albeit due to vivid descriptions few parts felt kind of dragged, the characters were nice and so was the story. Overall this was a delightful read !

I Love You So Much, It Hurts

Book- I Love You So Much, It Hurts.
Author- Shilpa Jain
Pages- 184

Shilpa Jain is undoubtedly an amazing storyteller ! My first book of her was The Case of Black Magic Murders In Mumbai and the second one is I Love You So Much, It Hurts. And both the times while reading her book I couldn’t just stop myself to even take a break. Both the times I finished her books in a couple of hours, and that’s how engaging her narration is and that’s how exceptional she is as a storyteller !
.
.
.

I’ve already reviewed her book The Case Of Black Magic Murders In Mumbai and this is the review of the my second book of her, I Love You So Much, It Hurts.
.
.
.

This is way more than a cliched romance novel, do not get fooled by it’s title. Well, I do wish this book had a better title and cover to do justice to what’s inside it.
Anyways, coming to the story, it is about Aditi and her husband Aryan who get divorced under mysterious circumstances, because well, Aryan was being mysterious.
He undeniably loved Aditi and treated her right, but only when he was around her and once he was off to his trips he would act as if Aditi was non-existent !
Well, he sure was responsible for creating this awfully pickle situation. But was he entirely responsible for this ? Or was he himself bound to some kind of situation ?
.
.
.
.
Believe me, this story is absolutely unforeseeable ! The pace is so right that it connects with you, carries you alongwith it and throws you into an awe-worthy, thrilling and action packed life of Aditi, Aryan and their friends. The characters are really good and the plot is a hit !
.
.
.
This is an absolute fun, easy and thrilling read.(P.S.- This is an enjoyable and thrilling fiction, this is not a phliosophical, giving meaning to life book.)
The mystery quoteint is high in this story. Even though there’s a lot to talk about this book, I’m refraining myself from doing so because I don’t wanna spoil if for others.

The Paintbrush

*This book is going to make you bawl like a baby. Carry a box of tissues while reading this because I was legit bummed.*

Book- The Paintbrush
Author- Krishnasish Jana
Pages-183

“What is the exact measure of sorrow that can actually break an artist?”
.
.

The Paintbrush is the story of Raman’s life. Raman, a little boy from the slum of Bhalar who loved spending his time by the river, enjoying sunset, playing with his friends and coming back home to his mother’s arms. But his life changed overnight when one day he came home to find his mother murdered by his father.
.
.
Life kept knocking him over but every time he found something to hold on to. He never ran out of strength and hope and love and colours and paintbrushes.
Growing up in a slum, facing disasters, betrayal, the death of three people who he loved the most, the painter in him kept growing.
He was a gifted painter, a brilliant one. He fought, fought hard to rise to the stage which he deserved. And then one day the search for his ‘masterpiece’ began !
.
.
.

Life can be so cruel, even to the innocents. Reading about Raman pained me. It’s like I have the book in my hands, I have things happening infront of me, but I couldn’t do anything. That’s how real the narration felt !
The beauty of relationship between a mother and a son, a husband and a wife, a father and a daughter has been amazingly depicted and the essence of these relationships were beautifully penned. The characters felt so existent and the connection with those characters made the book even more wonderful.

Everything about The Paintbrush is exceptional !

Kudos to Krishnashish Jana for writing a ‘masterpiece’.

.
.
.
.

The Author is absolutely brilliant ! This book has been written so intricately that once you start reading it you’ll feel the air of mystery and something sinister going on around you. This book is gonna send chills down your spine the entire time and that feeling is gonna last for quite a long time (P.S.- I still have this book running in my mind.). The characters were so amusing with their flaws and the touch of realism that you could so nicely connect with them. I loved Ritchie 😍 😍 😍 The plot, oh sweet mother of all that is good and pure ! How perfect was that ! With unfathomable twists and mind numbingly genius mysteries, the Author’s narration will leave you hallucinated ! The pace of the story was such that it will drag you into the scenes and carry you with it.

I’m so satisfied with this book that it has quenched my thirst to read a great book and at the same time has left me craving for more !

The Sleepless Beauty

#bookreview

Book- The Sleepless Beauty
Author- Rajesh Talwar
Pages- 90

The Sleepless Beauty is such an endearing read ! With a totally unique plot showing the importance of the basic things of life like love, family, closeness with our loved ones, this is a short and good read.
.
.
.
.
Princess Ramya, a beautiful and strong princess is the only heir to her father’s kingdom. She’s just excellent at everything and a fit heir, except her lack of concentration due to prolonged sleeplessness for around 7 years !
.
.
.
The story begins with King Bhoj, his kingdom, then his marriage to Queen Mohini and then the birth of their little princess Ramya. This story beautifully proceeds with Ramya’s sleeplessness and the hunt for a solution to this problem.
.
.
.
Well, now to know the reason for years of sleeplessness and the possible and bizzare solutions to this, you gotta read this book !
.
.
.

The characters were lovely and so was the story. The narration could have been a little better. The fun element, the relationship between parents and their child, the importance of showing love, the pace of the story, the uniqueness of the plot, everything was really good and it was an absolute fun read !

Done With Her ~ A Revelation That Stabs At Your Subconscious

Book- Done With Her ~ A Revelation That Stabs At Your Subconscious
Author- Chirasree Bose
Publishers- Evincepub Publishing
Pages- 86

Love. Lust. Obsession. Murder. Revenge.
Avesh Mathur is shaken to his core when he sees Spreeha at his office. Because even though she’s beautiful, she has a striking resemblance with Chanda. Chanda, the past that he buried years ago, the past which he shares with his friends Dheeraj and Vrijen.
Later, he is convinced that Spreeha is not Chanda and that Vrijen has already done a background check on her. Unbelievably smitten by Spreeha, Avesh calls upon his death. But how ? And why ?
.
.
.

The Author has done a really great job at keeping up the mystery and thrill in the book till the very last page. The writing style and narration are both good. The characters could have been developed better but aren’t bad either.
There were few places where it was a bit confusing but reading further cleared the confusion.
What I wanted more from the book was a little more focus on the honour killing part, which is just hinted at. And what I didn’t like about the book is, she had the evidence, she was alive, yet instead of going to the Police, seeking help from Law she decided to conspire with one of her assaulters and murder all three of them. Is killing someone and getting away with it so easy ? I totally support women fighting for them, but this way, by taking revenge, it’ll be like ‘an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.’

Nonetheless, it was a easy, good and thrilling read.

Summer Holidays

Book- Summer Holidays

How important is family ? How deep do the blood runs ? How long can one stay away from a loved one ? Or can a person really stay away from someone he loves ?
.
.
.

“People misbehave with their loved ones, take them for granted, because they believe in a tomorrow when things will get sorted. But what if there was no tomorrow ?”

This is what I believe in since the time I can remember. This is why I can never get mad at someone I truly love, because the moment I start losing my temper, it hits me, what if this is my last moment with this person ? Would I ever want to spend my last moment with the person I love by shouting at him/her ? No. Never. And this is how I could never get mad at someone I’m crazily in love with.
.
.
.
Koral Dasgupta has done a brilliant job at capturing the essence of family, the relationship of a brother and sister, that how deep it runs. There will be times when you’ll get mad at each other, where you wouldn’t like your family, but there can never be a moment when you would stop loving them. There can never be such a moment.
Summer Holidays by Koral Dasgupta will make you feel all these. All these things we know but fail to realise until some adverse situation arises.
Family is important, it always is and Koral Dasgupta’s Summer Holidays will take you on a journey where you’ll want to capture every single moment with your family and keep it safe in your heart.
.
.
.
The writing style was perspicuous and the pace of the narration was unbroken. With a suave plot and characters that seemed real the book was an enjoyable and emotional read for me. All the characters were given equal importance and just blended really well as an individual and as a group really well with the story. The element of humour, the purity of sentiments, the flashbacks, the description of places were very beautifully described.
.
.
.
.
Congratulations Koral Dasgupta for writing such a simple and endearing piece of story and Rupa Publications on publishing the same ❤️

Sand Castles

Book- Sand Castles
Author- Sana Rose
Publisher- Turquoise Publication
Pages- 340

“We’re never too young to think about anything. But sometimes we are too young to understand some things. And sometimes too old to understand some other things.”

A tale of three girls who turned into a family, started when they entered the Goa Medical College in 1997. Leno, Trisha and Ria lived and loved in the beautiful state of Goa.

LIFE.

No matter how unfair or lost life may seem sometimes, it’ll eventually all make sense. What’s meant to be, will be yours one day.

Sana Rose has done a commendable job at weaving a tale so moving and real. Every page in this book is filled with emotions, with the essence of life. Promises. Truths and Lies. Family. Friendship. Relationships. Motherhood. To forget and to forgive. To second chances. To letting go of all the things that won’t do any good. Death. And to life. To live it, and to accept it knowing there’s the Almighty who has everything planned for you.

I immensely loved Sand Castles. Sana Rose has narrated so well that you’ll stay connected to each incident and each character. You’ll get to know the characters, to see how they grow up from being carefree teenagers to adults who can sacrifice their life for the ones they love.
The plot is flawless and as unpredictable as life itself.
The women in this book are so strong, so dedicated to the people they love. The emotions are pure and real. .

Apart from everything related to the plot, the book has beautiful poems ❤️

Absolutely recommend.

The Heist Artist

Vagh Pratap Singh aka Captain. An extraordinary and charming conman. Disguised as an Art Professor Mr. Albert Rueben he was hunting down the famous potrait The Poppy Flowers by Vincent Van Gogh. This book is all about the thrilling journey the Captain is going to embark upon, his past and how he ended up as a conman.
.
.
.
.

The Heist Artist by Vish Dhamija is utterly thrilling. The planning and plotting to steal the painting, the cat and mouse chase, the twists and turns will keep you hooked to the book till the end. The pace of the narration and the writing style was top notch and humour parts were absolutely witty. The sequence of the events were nicely linked, the past and present connection weren’t confusing at all.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book, but some parts were kind of stretched with excess description and the ending part was a bit cold compared to the thrill in the rest of the book.

Fluid

Book- Fluid
Author- Ashish Jaiswal
Publisher- Wisdom Tree

Fluid by Ashish Jaiswal is probably the best non-fiction I’ve ever read. I immensely enjoyed it. The topics covered by the Author in the book are top notch.
.
.
.
Ever since I could remember, School, Colleges and Education meant getting the highest scores if you wanna build a good career and end up in a good job. Understand what you read or just mug up, but you gotta score more. It’s very rare to hear that do what you love, read whatever you want to, pursue what you’re passionate about.
.
.
.
But the stories put forward by the Author will make you see how the great things in the world were out of the box. How great people did what they were passionate about.
The stories were fascinating. All of them.
.
.
.
Ashish Jaiswal’s research is so distinctly visible in the book. Fluid is absolutely amazing ! At first I was quite skeptical thinking here goes another book of do’s and dont’s, the same do this, follow that, you’ll be at peace and blah ! But this was really different. The writing style, narrating a non-fiction, the informations, oh I loved everything !
